Each week, members of the audience and those watching at home winch and hide behind their fingers as contestants perform dangerous and nail-biting moves on the ice.

But fears over their safety have got so bad that Dancing On Ice bosses have brought in extra medical staff in case anything goes wrong.

Especially for tomorrow night's semi-final, which will see soap stars Jorgie Porter and Matthew Wolfenden perform the notoriously risky headbanger move where where the female skater of the couple is swung around by her ankles, her head just centimetres off the ice.

Scroll down to see Jorgie Porter perform the move last month...

Dangerous: Jorgie Porter and her partner Matt Evers performed the very risky headbanger move on Dancing On Ice last month and will attempt it again in tomorrow night's semi-final

According to the Daily Star, ITV bosses are not taking any risks especially as skating legends and the show's mentors Jane Torvill, 54, and Christopher Dean, 53, have ordered the young actors to perform the move like professional skaters.

When the move has been performed before on the show, the female partner has always ended it by lying on the ice - but tomorrow night, Jorgie will have to land on her feet.

An ITV1 insider told the paper: 'This series has been dominated by injuries from broken bones to torn muscles, so everyone is nervous about Sunday.

Like a pro: Jorgie, seen on last weekend's show, will attempt the move again tomorrow night but this time has to land on her feet

Nervous: Matthew Wolfenden, seen here with partner Nina Ulanova on last week's show, will have to perform the dangerous move for the first time

'It’s our job to make sure they are well looked after off the ice.

'Fingers crossed we can get them to the final in one piece!'

Actress Jennifer Ellison is another semi-finalist as she will attempt a reverse neck spin, which sees her spun upside down with her ankles round her partner’s neck.

And pop star Chico will attempt to lift his partner Jodeyne Higgins above his head in a 'drape lift'.

Not getting off that easily! The other two semi-finalists, Jennifer Ellison and Chico, seen here getting through on last week's show, will also have to perform a tricky and dangerous move
