Ripping it up! Rihanna thrills X Factor fans in shredded jeans while Stacy Francis' dreams are torn apart

X Factor fans were given a treat last night when Rihanna performed in a fetching pair of torn jeans.

The RnB sensation thrilled fans in a trendy combo made up of her shredded trousers and a bomber jacket.

The Barbadian beauty gave the performance of the night as she sung her dance hit We Found Love.

She flashed just enough flesh to excite her legion of fans, wearing a revealing tartan top beneath her jacket and showing off black stockings beneath her trousers.

She even found time to give the acts a pearl of her undoubted wisdom, telling them: 'I would say most important is you have to love what you do.'

'If you don't it's a waste of time, it's really hard. If you love it it never feels like work.'

But it was was not just Rihanna's jeans that were ripped on the tonight's typically exciting show.

Leather lunged hopeful Stacey Francis had her dreams torn apart, and was given the boot after finishing in the bottom two.

She was joined in the bottom two by bespectacled teenage rapper Astro, who managed to keep his place in the show despite drawing the wrath of both his mentor LA Reid and Simon Cowell.

They were furious the 15-year-old, whose real name is Brian Bradley, almost refused to perform in the sign off, demanding that Epic Records chief Reid instruct him on whether to perform.

When it emerged the duo had finished in the bottom two there was no sign of the drama ahead.

Stacy could not even speak when she realised she had finished so low, while Astro shouted: 'Hip hop has made it so far in this show. It is what it is.'

Stacy's mentor Nicole Scherzinger was undoubtedly disappointed, saying she could not be more proud of her act, while LA was far more upbeat, insisting his performer still had a big future ahead.

Perhaps the former Pussycat Doll knew her act was doomed, as the soul singer gave another poor performance, warbling an off-key rendition of Amazing Grace in the sing-off.

But it seemed she could yet be saved after emotional Astro almost turned the show into a farce.

Unhappy about finishing in the bottom two, he came out and said: 'I really don't want to perform, I feel it's unnecessary.

'LA, I'm going to leave it up to you, you're my mentor. Should I perform?'

Luckily Reid told him to go ahead, and the 15-year-old delivered a rendition of Never Can Say Goodbye.

He managed to put his idiosyncratic stamp on the song, reeling off lines such as, 'my watch must be broke 'cause they say it's time to go.'

However when the judges were asked to pick who they wanted to keep, LA let rip at his young charge.

He said: 'First of all this is all about attitute. You guys have both come a long way.

'Astro I thought you came out and acted a little bit like a quitter and it upset me.

'If you come out and give a lacklustre performance after all of your great performances, is that fair?'

But he eventually said he had to be loyal to his act despite his behaviour and voted to retain him.

Nicole also voted to save her act, while Paula Abdul said she respected both of them before deciding to vote to keep Astro.

Acid tongued judge Simon Cowell had the last word on who was to be sent home, and he was furious with the wannabe hip-hopper, despite hailing him as a standout at the beginning of the show.

He said: 'I don't like your attitude right now. Do me a favour and stop folding your arms and look at me, and think about your mum watching the show.

'Because you are showing disrespect to your mum, you are showing disrespect to the audience at home, and I don't like people with this attitude.'

However the naughty schoolboy continued his defiant behaviour, snorting: 'No disrespect to you or this show, but I just feel like if you're going to put me in the bottom two, I don't want to perform for people who don't want me here.

'You know what I'm saying? That's it.'

An enraged Simon replied: 'If you are in this position again are you going to take the same attitude and not going to come out and sing?'

The youngster then made an about face and made a grovelling apology to the powerful music mogul.

An hesitant Simon then put the final nail in Stacy's coffin, despite his clear disdain for Astro.

He said: 'Based on who I believe has the better chance of winning, I really don't want to do this, I'm going to send home Stacy.'

Tearful single mother Stacy thanked the judges for giving her an opportunity to sing to a nationwide audience, and a solemn Simon walked on to the stage to give her a consoling hug.

How this will affect the week's ahead is unclear, but surely the previously popular Astro will be going home sooner rather than later.
