Vernon Kay hit another obstacle on U.S. TV show Skating With The Stars last night, when he forgot one of the contestants names.

The 35-year-old British host managed to flub one of his lines when talking about professional skater Jennifer Wester – calling her Brooke by mistake.

Motley Crue singer Vince Neil, 49, was dancing with Wester but took a tumble after dropping his dance partner in the middle of their Tango on the second episode of the series.

Embarrassing slip-up: Host Vernon Kay managed to flub his lines when talking about Wester - calling her 'Brooke' instead of Jennifer before correcting himself

Apologise: Vernon quickly apologised to Jennifer Wester (right) but his blunder comes after viewers have had trouble understanding his accent

Neil was lifting Wester when he lost his footing and dropped to one knee and slid on the ice to the edge of the rink.

Before his performance he admitted he was 'pretty worried' about performing a lift with his professional partner.

But the fall wasn’t the most embarrassing moment, that honour went to Vernon when he was talking about Wester – calling her Brooke instead of Jennifer.

Judge Dick Button was encouraging about the contestants' fall though, saying: 'Don't worry about making mistakes. I enjoy your personality on the ice. I'm having a great time watching you.

Fellow judge Laurie Ann added: 'When you came out you were absolutely tango. There where some parts where I caught my breathe when I watched you. Technically I understand, that ice is not nice. But just for the artistic side, amazing!'

He received a total of 30/60 and his overall total of 58/120 left him at the bottom of the leader board.

Take notes: Perhaps Vernon should write the contestants names on his hands when they appear on the big screen, so he can remember what they're called

After Vernon made the embarrassing name slip, he quickly corrected himself but the slip-up comes after American viewers have already had trouble understanding his broad northern accent.

After first appearing on the reality TV show, thousands of viewers took to internet forums complaining they were struggling to follow what he was saying.

He had even been mistaken for Scottish and seemed to have mixed reviews from the show’s fans.

But now his latest blunder may cost him his American dream of being the next British star to make it big stateside.

Vernon’s role on Skating With The Stars, which is based on the British series Dancing On Ice, is said to be worth a cool £300,000.

And the announcement that he would present the ABC programme came just after it was revealed he would also be hosting game show Million Dollar Mind Game for the network.

But despite his regional accent and latest setback, Vernon is said to be thrilled about the opportunity and is making the most of his stint in the U.S.

He’ll return to the UK just in time for Christmas with his family, as his wife Tess Daly has stayed in Britain with their two daughters as she presents Strictly Come Dancing.

Crashing out: Sean Young was eliminated from Skating With The Stars after struggling through her routine

Going, going, gone: The Blade Runner star lost her balance on two separate occasions

Also on last night’s Skating With The Stars, Blade Runner star Sean Young was voted off after two dramatic falls.

The 51-year-old twice hit the ice while performing her Swing routine to Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy with partner Denis Petukhov.

The actress, who starred alongside Harrison Ford in the Eighties classic sci-fi film, was gracious in defeat.

'I thank Denis for being the best trainer and giving me the greatest experience in my life,' she said after her elimination.

The trained dancer, who studied at the School of American Ballet in New York, had earlier received 30/60 for her performance. Combined with last week's score, she received a grand total of 64/120.
