Within days of each other, Harry Patch (The last Tommy) and Henry Allingham (one of the founding members of the RAF), died last week. Harry was 111 years old and Henry 113 years. Both were the last surviving members of the military to serve in WW1. These men should be remembered for serving there country in a war from which so many, including my Great Uncle did not return.

Totally agree icedancer, I had 2 great uncles who did not return

I actually saw the by-planes used in Henry's fly-past on Friday, they took of from Duxford which as the plane flies is just up the M11 from me.
It was a moving sight to say the least.
