Because those posts will be deleted as soon as we see them, likewise any nonsense in the threads.

It's what people (kids mostly) use on mobiles Cath and it's fine on them but not on here. U for you, 2 for to, 4 for for etc.

Thank Alex, I don't always read the posts that are in text, I can't be bothered, I can understand using it on a mobile phone, but it doesn't take too long to type in full.

Thanks Alex, It is more difficult if English is not your first language. I did just like Pamela and ignored those messages.

It'll actually help the kids in the long run even though they won't believe it at the moment and it looks like we're being gits for the sake of it.

Remember, Ginger Rogers did everything Fred Astaire did, but backwards and in high heels.

For all the reasons stated above. Not all of our members are native English speakers and it makes it easier for them to read peoples' posts, and it shouldn't be too difficult to respect the forum rules unless you have a medical condition that prevents you from using proper English.

I'm 14 and everytime I text my Mum she can never understand what I mean. She can hardly use her mobile though, so no surprises really... Just wondering, why do some older people have more trouble using technology/understanding text speak? it actually annoys me a bit, and when you're on the computer it's not actually that auicker, but on a phone it's quicker and as the maximum length for a text is usually only 180 characters it's kind of neccesary...

as with most things it is down to being familiar with it and comfortable with it. The younger generation have always had these devises around, but dont forget that it's only in the last 15 years that technology has really boomed, mobile phones are still a young technology to people over a certain age (I remember black and white telly! Ehh Gad!)

Yes txt speak was useful when text messages were limited to a certain number of characters but that is no longer the case as long as you dont mind spending 10p more.

I don't always study the content that are in written text, I can't be worried, I can comprehend using it on a cell cellphone, but it doesn't take a lengthy time to kind in complete.
