What do people think about the strikes? Are doctors overworked /underpaid?

Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain.

underpaid, and overworked, no wonder they're all migrating overseas!!
(I saw more English and Irish nurses and doctors when in Aus, and Canada, than any Aussies/Canadians). Last time i went to Canada on holiday, loads of ex-police (from UK) had moved there.

My daughter's friend has parents both doctors- they have encouraged their children not to go into medicine.- What does that say?

Overseas have better policies on health, ie everybody has insurance, whether medicare or private, but must be paid for. (on ability to pay mostly) . It's a brave government that will bring that in here, but it needs to come in , the NHS on the verge on collapse- not enough money being put in to it. It does more now than was intended in 1948 when it came into action. All this high-tech, heart , lung, transplants, MRI's , neo-natal etc. etc.. cost a lot of money.
Meant to say too, we have an aging population, most of which spend the last 2-3 weeks before they die in hospital (not the right place in most cases) -anyway most do not have any place to return to, in care or with care provided at home. They do not get the personal attention they need there, comfort, or basic care, - this is another area that needs more attention in the health /social care arena. It is only going to get worse too.
I can see more nurses and doctors leaving the NHS soon too.
