It's not a lap dance! James Maslow and Peta Murgatroyd strip to their underwear as they heat up Dancing With The Stars

By Daily Mail Reporter

  • Amy Purdy was taken to hospital immediately after her performance after injuring herself on the dancefloor

Pain and passion truly ruled Dancing With The Stars on Monday night as the injuries started to mount and the clothes came off.

The pain was evident as Danica McKellar pressed on with her performance despite a broken rib - and a series of other injuries ended with Amy Purdy rushed to the hospital with a painful back spasm after her live performance.

And as Ricky Martin guest judged for Latin Week, the passion was also there as the clothes were shed throughout the night - peaking with one of the raunchiest performances imaginable for prime time television.

Showing flesh: James Maslow and professional partner Peta Murgatroyd shed their clothes on Monday while performing on Dancing With The Stars

James Maslow and Peta Murgatroyd, still teasing fans over the status of their real-life relationship, seemed to Samba straight into the bedroom as James stripped off his shirt and rubbed up against Peta in skimpy red lingerie.

'Let's recap this dance - you take your shirt off, you come out in a Victoria's Secret outfit,' co-host Erin Andrews asked the couple. 'Where would we rank this dance?'

James had even admitted they would be pushing the boundaries as he asked Peta in rehearsals: 'And this is allowed on ABC? Gotta love good family fun.'

Racy for television: Peta and James heated things up on the dance floor

And he later also joked about how it was his key tactic, saying: 'We're just going to take off our clothes.'

But while James and Peta took it to the extreme, it was a night when most of the men tried to win over the judges with their bare bodies, with pro Tony Dovolani at least having the perfect excuse after being forced int ito by a live Twitter poll.

The show of male skin peaked after one of the team dances when Derek Hough, Mark Ballas and the Chmerkovskiy brothers Val and Maks were all onstage shirtless at the same time.

Hot bodies: Show host Erin Andrews expressed her surprise at their outfits

'I think it's Take Your Shirt Off Week, not Latin Week,' judge Len Goodman quipped.

There was also a combination of pain and passion for reality TV star NeNe Leakes as she was the latest competitor eliminated - but gave a rousing speech despite her obvious sadness at going home.

'I'm so proud of myself, and I hope that I inspire women all over the world,' she said, the emotion clear on her face.

'This has been an amazing, positive experience for me. I am so proud of myself to stand her and compete with Olympians with no dance experience at all. I am proud of NeNe Leakes.'

End of the line: NeNe Leakes was eliminated from the competition

Danica had clearly feared she would have to pull out after fracturing a rib during an innocent-looking lift in rehearsals.

Her doctor warned her that dancing could just make it worse, and she admitted to doubt before her performance.

'There's a fine line between being strong and toughening it out, and being stupid. I don't know where the balance is,' she said.

Amazingly, she pressed on, and still received an impressive score with three 8s and a 9.

Tough competitor: Danica McKellar broke a rib but still delivered a top performance

Carrie Ann admitted that the injury 'stifled your movement', but Bruno Tonioli told her: 'I'm sure you're going to be back, and I'm sure you're going to dazzle us again.'

Asked what gave her the strength to perform, Danica insisted it was strength from social media.

'When it first happened I didn't think I'd be able to keep going, but I sent a tweet out to all my fans asking for their love and support and prayers,' she told Erin.

'I got such a response back and I swear I felt it. It really helped.'

Broken rib: Danica appreciated the support from social media

Amy Purdy, meanwhile, suffered her painful injury AFTER her dance - and again from a seemingly innocent movement as she simply turned around.

'Right after judging I turned my head and my back cracked and it just seized up,' she explained as she waited to go to hospital.

'I was fine in the dance, fine in judging, and then I really turned wrong, my back cracked, and I went into serious pain.

'Everything's really painful right now. It's hard to breathe.'

Serious injury: Amy Purdy was taken to the hospital after suffering an injury after her dance

The injury lead to show officials allowing her second dance of the night, the team dance, to be judged on video footage of her team's final rehearsal, only the second time it's happened in the show's history.

The physical injury came after emotional pain in rehearsals - as Amy broke down admitting to 'challenges' in her personal life with boyfriend Daniel Gale, who was shown in the audience later looking muted as he supported her.

'Derek and I are doing this ''love dance'', and at the same time I'm totally having challenges at home,' she sobbed in taped interviews as she rehearsed her Rumba with Derek.

'I've been in a long term relationship with somebody who's amazing and supportive, but the last year-and-a-half has been really challenging for us because of my schedule.

'It's such a hard situation when you can't fulfill each other's needs.

'I have to like stay strong to make it through everything.'

Tough week: Amy talked to Derek about some pressing issues

Their Rumba to a Latin-vibed version of The Doors' Light My Fire got all 9s from the judges, however, with Carrie Ann Inaba calling her 'Wonder Woman' and adding: 'You are absolutely darn sexy and elegant and gracious.'

But the judge was also 'really strict' at pointing out her foot came off the ground at moments it shouldn't have, adding: 'When you win - if you win - and there's a high chance as you're incredible - I want everybody to know that you earned it and there was nothing unfair about it. You are fantastic.'

'You lit my fire out there, I tell you,' Len added. 'First out - first class.'

Meanwhile guest judge Ricky told her: 'I was trying to write my notes but I couldn't take my eyes off you because you were stunning.'

He added with a smile: 'I felt a lot of things.'

'Ricky Martin telling you he's feeling all sorts of things - I'll take that,' co-host Erin laughed.

Guest judge: Ricky Martin helped out the show during Latin Week

Amy was not the only contestant suffering from personal problems - with Candace Cameron Bure even going to a psychologist as she feared she was 'cracking up' as she kept 'blanking out' on the routines she had practiced so hard.

With lots of tears, she admitted that the root of her problem was the fear that she was 'holding back' and 'letting down' her dance partner Mark Ballas.

She said that the main tips she got from the psychologist were 'deep breathing and just reminding myself that I can do this' - something she clearly took to heart as her Tango got three 9s and one 8.

'That was hot and it was right on it,' Len told her, while Bruno added: 'Great legs by the way.'

Sports psychologist: Candace Cameron Bure talked to a sports psychologist after having problems with her routines

Maksim Chmerkovskiy, meanwhile, made light of his injury after being left hobbling in rehearsals.

After making it obvious the pain was in an intimate area, co-host Erin joked that 'America wants to know' what it was - and he got laughs and even a few boos when he quipped: 'America is a dirty place.'

Turning serious, he said injuries are a real threat at this stage of the competition, with his star partner, ice skater Meryl Davis, also hurting her wrist.

That hurts: Meryl reacted suddenly after injuring her wrist in rehearsal

'This is the stage of the competition where the bodies are tired, we're exhausted, we need to be careful with preventing injuries,' Maks said.

Their Salsa was once again the highest scoring routine of the night - with only Len's 9 stopping them getting a perfect score with 10s across the board.

'Ricky, that girl - she bangs! She bangs!' Bruno joked about Ricky Martin's famous song, also praising Meryl for holding her own dancing 'in front of six of the best professionals in the country' who helped during their performance.

'You've blown me away!' Carrie Ann added. 'Girl, you continually surprise me.'

Sexy side: Olympic champion Meryl Davis showed her sexy side during a Salsa dance with her pro partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy

Afterwards, Meryl told Erin that the raunchiness of the dance was 'definitely outside of my comfort zone' but insisted that Maks helped her 'feel comfortable'.

'And helped you find your dirty place, apparently,' Erin joked.

Meryl's Olympic partner on ice, Charlie White, also suffered an injury, saying his 'knee just caught a little bit', with his face showing obvious pain at the end of his Paso Doble.

'It had flair, it had purpose, it had power - but you messed it up,' Bruno told Charlie, who also went shirtless and made no secret of his desire to get perfect 10s.

Seeking advice: Charlie White talked to his Olympics partner Meryl about the competition

'To get a 10 you had to do something special. And for me this wasn't special,' Len also told him, as the judges gave two 9s and an 8.

But Ricky gave him his sought-after 10, saying: 'I see what they're saying, but I was living the moment and I was flying with you guys. I was blown away. It was erotic but it was sensual. It was beautiful.'

The erotic highlight of the night clearly belonged to singer James and his partner Peta, with their revealing dance coming after yet more teasing over their relationship.

Risque routine: James and Peta didn't hold back

As she explained in rehearsals what their Samba entailed, Peta smiled as she told her partner: 'You have to be more than next to me in this dance. You have to, like, rub up against me, we have to have a lot of hip action going on down there.'

Peta admitted in a pre-show interview that 'James and I bring this unique chemistry with one another', but asked outright if they are 'seeing each other' she looked down, smiled, and said: 'All I wanna saying is I look forward to coming her and seeing him every day.'

'I'm not denying the fact that we like each other - we definitely do,' James later admitted. 'She's beautiful and she's cool.

'But we're trying to keep it as platonic as possible right now.'

Just friends: Show host Tom Bergeron chatted with Peta and James who insist they have a platonic relationship

Their Samba - in which they pretended to be gas station servers who strip each other off - got three 9s and an 8, with the comments all on how sexy they looked.

'That's amazing, that's exactly what happens at the gas station I go to,' host Tom Bergeron quipped.

'Can I ask you a couple of questions?' Bruno asked. 'What are you doing tomorrow? No really - I need to book a full service. They've blown my spark plugs, they really have.

'That was filthy, that was dirty - and I loved it.'

Len also joked: 'Peta, I think you're a little overdressed, to be honest with you. You kept the motor running, you didn't run out of gas.'

Service station: Peta started her dance in full costume

NeNe's last dance had once again seen her get the lowest score of the night, with three 8s and a 7, despite Ricky telling her she was 'floating on stage' and Carrie Ann telling her: 'I'm just impressed with how far you've come.'

The contestants also performed in team dances, with Charlie and Meryl - the highs scorers in the season so far - acting as team captains and picking sides.

Meryl's team with Candace, Danica and the injured Amy also almost got a perfect score, with Len once again the one holding back with a 9, having said it was only fair to mark it down as it was video from a rehearsal where 'the pressure's off a little bit'.

But Bruno called it 'slick, spectacular, a show-stopper', while Carrie Ann insisted: 'That was insane! I have never seen a tighter group performance.'

Week 7: Dance By Dance Recap

All seven remaining couples will perform one Latin dance: the Rumba, Samba, Salsa and Argentine Tango. They were scheduled to take the floor a second time with team routines, but an injury to Amy Purdy had her team judged on their taped dress rehearsal instead of a live performance. In Ricky's honor, we had "Team Vida" (NeNe, Charlie and James) versus "Team Loca" (Danica, Candace, Meryl and Amy).

Here are the scores, from highest to lowest

Meryl Davis and Maksim Chmerkovskiy -- 39 out of 40 / 39 out of 40 for their team dance = 78 out of 80 total points.

Meryl baila una salsa sexy. She steps out of her comfort zone and Maksim Chmerkovskiy promises he will dig the "down and dirty" out of her. Meryl says this is awkward, but it doesn't show; she gets down to business no matter the dance style. And like so many men this round, Maks gets shirtless and that's always a good thing.

Head judge Len Goodman was the lone "9" score, saying the dance was a bit hectic with too much "extra stuff." Carrie Anne Inaba told Meryl she was in her element; guest judge Ricky Martin called them intense and amazing; and Bruno Tonioli paid tribute to Ricky by saying, about Meryl, "she bangs."

Amy Purdy and Derek Hough -- 36 out of 40 / 39 out of 40 for their team dance = 75 out of 80 total points.

La Rumba esta caliente! And not easy for anyone, much less a woman who has to work extra hard to find and keep her balance just to be able to stand. Amy and Derek Hough faced their challenging week with tears and laughter.

Excuse me, how flexible is this woman? Amazing. They danced to "Light My Fire" and that's just what they did; they lit up the ballroom. Len called the routine sharp, smooth, and first class; Bruno's words were sexy but classy; and Ricky praised them as sensual, clean, and passionate and connected. Enciende mi fuego!

Sadly, we learned that she tweaked her back right after the dance and had to see the medics just after her scores were revealed.

Charlie White and Sharna Burgess -- 36 out of 40 / 35 out of 40 for their team dance = 71 out of 80 total points.

Charlie es un torero con el Paso Doble. He really, really, really wants 10's like his skating partner, Meryl, has been getting. Sharna Burgess has high hopes and thinks the Paso Doble is the right fit for him. The judges differ, with Len giving them an "8" and saying that at this point in the competition the dance needs to be special, and this one wasn't. But Ricky gave them a "10", and said he felt as though he was flying around the dance floor with the two of them.

James Maslow and Peta Murgatroyd -- 35 out of 40 / 35 out of 40 for their team dance = 70 out of 80 total points.

Es la Samba, mira esas caderas se mueven! Peta Murgatroyd tells James they will focus on hips and body contact and they'll do as much as ABC will allow. The producers press the duo to answer whether or not they are a couple outside of the ballroom; Peta plays coy, but James says they are platonic. For now.

Peta takes the dance floor in coveralls that are quickly removed to reveal the sexiest costume ever; then James' tank top is ripped off halfway through the dance so it's nothing but caliente, caliente, caliente! Carrie Ann said their chemistry is beyond sick (and that's good), while Ricky called them the gift that keeps on giving.

Candace Cameron Bure and Mark Ballas -- 35 out of 40 / 39 out of 40 for their team dance = 74 out of 80 total points.

Candace ve a un medico de cabecera. A sports psychologist to be exact, because she keeps "freezing" when it comes to "game day." Mark Ballas tells us she's an entirely different person during rehearsal and then goes blank at camera blocking in the ballroom. Whatever "Dr. Jen" says seems to have helped, because DJ Tanner got her best score yet for her Argentine tango. Bruno complimented her dance, and her legs. Carrie Ann and Len both applauded the clean, crisp lines in the routine.

Danica McKellar and Valentin Chmerkovskiy -- 33 out of 40 / 39 out of 40 for their team dance = 72 out of 80 total points.

El baile de Danica con una costilla rota. That's right, a broken rib! And any dance would be hard with a fractured rib, but Danica and Val Chmerkovskiy have the salsa, which is really impacted by her lack of core movement. She says she's managing the pain (ouch!) and makes it through the routine with more or less flying colors. All the judges felt like the injury stifled her

NeNe Leakes and Tony Dovolani -- 31 out of 40 for their Argentine Tango / 35 out of 40 for their team dance = 66 out of 80 total points.

Nuestra ultima oportunidad de bailar Nene. She fought the good fight, but in the end, Nene wasn't quite in the same league as the others left dancing. Tony Dovolani gave her a very creative, character driven Argentine Tango that she had a lot of fun with & but she still hasn't been able to quite nail down technique. The judges all commented on her ability to get into character and sell it, and Carrie Ann praised Nene by saying she's impressed she's come this far!

NeNe Leakes and Tony Dovolani were eliminated. This week the two scored 31 out of 40 for their Argentine Tango. The duo also received 39 out of 40 points for their team dance. Last week, the pair scored 33 out of 40 for their Salsa.

James Maslow and Peta Murgatroyd were in jeopardy. This week the two scored 35 out of 40 for their Samba. The duo also received 39 out of 40 points for their team dance. Last week, the pair scored 35 out of 40 for their Quickstep.

Next week's guest judge: "Dance Mom's" Abby Lee Miller!
