He's dumped! Bachelor star Sean Lowe just misses out on Dancing With The Stars semi-finals as he gets the flick from reality TV contest

He flirted with disaster once too often.

And Bachelor star Sean Lowe paid the price as he was unceremoniously dumped on Dancing With The Stars on Tuesday.

And while his close friendship with his dance partner Peta Murgatroyd set tongues wagging, it is now over, at least professionally.

It's over: Bachelor personality Sean Lowe and dance partner Peta Murgatroyd got eliminated from Dancing With The Stars on Tuesday

On Tuesday night's live results show the duo, who were in bottom place following Monday's episode, learned they won't be progressing to the semi-finals of the show.

And as the Bachelor star's fiancee, Catherine Giudici, looked crestfallen as she watched from the studio audience, the 28-year-old insurance agent told how he felt 'blessed' to have been part of the show.

He said: 'I have enjoyed every second. I'm just a normal guy from Dallas.'

Peta added: 'This season has been so much fun. He is just the most humble, wonderful guy I could have asked for.

Not worried: However Sean's confidence turned out to be as misplaced as Jacoby Jones' nerves

That old chestnut: As usual the safe couple feigned sadness at making it through at their rivals' expense

Oh well: Head judge Len Goodman did not seem too bothered after the couple were given the boot

'He's made it so much fun for me.'

She previously insisted there was nothing going on between her and Sean, likening their relationship to that of a brother and sister.

Jacoby Jones and Karina Smirnoff were the other couple in the bottom two.

But they scraped through to dance again.

The first couple to learn they were safe was soap star Ingo Rademacher and Kym Johnson, who earned one of the lowest scores of the night on Monday with a lukewarm foxtrot and jive for a combined score of 48 points.

Hugs: Sean gave Peta a tight hug following the news

'I'm just an normal guy from Dallas': Sean tried to play the humble card to win back some support from fans

'He made it so much fun for me': Fans of Sean's fiancee Catherine Giudici were worried that he and Peta were getting too friendly

They looked stunned - and Kym screamed as Ingo proclaimed: 'I told you!'

But remarkably it was bad news for Derek Hough and country singer Kellie Pickler - who despite a solid 56 points the previous night - were the first couple to be told they were in jeopardy.

Their paso doble won top points from two of the judges - but Len Goodman disagreed, giving them just seven points.

And on the results show the audience got to see more footage of the judges arguing behind the scenes, as Len continued to try to defend his scoring.

'It was like our parents fighting,' joked Derek.

On the chopping block: Country favourite Kellie Pickler was a surprise choice for the bottom three

Vindicated: And despite being given a tongue lashing by Len Goodman the pair easily made it through

'Maybe he picked up the wrong paddle,' Kellie said as she said he was entitled to his opinion.
'Everybody likes their coffee different,' she said.

The audience sounded in disbelief as their news was revealed.

'Another shocker,' said co-host Brooke Burke Charvet.

NFL star Jacoby Jones and Karina Smirnoff came in the bottom three after getting a total of 52 points after his technique was criticized.

He was upset admitting he was 'competitive'.

Trying to get Kellie's attention: Perhaps Jacoby was trying to get a part in one of her music videos with his eccentric attire

Riding into the sunset: It seems Karina Smirnoff has hitched her wagon to the right contestant after they made it through

Unsurprisingly Zendaya and Val were the next to be told they were safe - as they celebrated with a dance.

'Jacoby and Karina, you're in jeopardy,' Brooke Burke Charvet told them, as Jacoby posed in a cowboy hat with his shirt undone, showing off his tattoed torso.

He shrugged his shoulders and said: 'It's the first time.'

'I've been working really hard,' said gymnast Aly Raisman, before the results were revealed. She and Mark Ballas got 56 points the night before for their tango and jive.

And Sean Lowe - who with Peta Murgatroyd got 42 points, the lowest score of the night - admitted he was in trouble after his dancing was branded 'ugly'.

Ingo's bingo: The General Hospital hunk was not hiding how happy he was to scrape through again

Going for gold: Olympic champion Aly Reismann seemed to channel Henry Kelly as she gave her best performances so far

He said before the results: 'I've got to work my tail off. Hopefully I can redeem myself if I get the chance.'

The next couple definitely going to the semi-finals was revealed to be Aly and Mark.

The final three couples in jeopardy then lined up to hear their fates.

'Our next semifinalist couple areā€¦ Kellie and Derek,' revealed co-host Tom Bergeron, to the delight of the ABC studio audience.

That left Sean and Peta and Jacoby and Karina to sweat it out.

Tom Bergeron said: 'Sean, the judges felt you took a step backwards with your routine.'

Cheryl Burke Charvet added: 'Jacoby, last night Len said up until now you've been a pretender but you've become a pretender. Did the viewers agree?'

A magical performance: Derek Hough thrilled his fans at home with the startling visual illusion created by dancing on a rotating stage

Wall to wall entertainment: It was one of the best set pieces of the series so far from the professionals

Taking his bow: He may have been puffing but Derek was still given a richly deserved round of applause

'On this eighth week, the couple with the lowest scores, and therefore leaving, is Sean and Peta,' Tom Bergeron revealed.

Meanwhile the semi-final dance styles - chosen by viewers on Twitter - were unveiled, as the contestants revealed which dances they wanted and which they definitely didn't.

Derek and Kellie will do flamenco, after Kellie confessed she had trouble pronouncing the word.

Ingo and Kym - who didn't want hip-hop - got lucky. They'll be doing the Charleston in the semi-finals.

Zendaya and Val looked delighted when they got the dance they were hoping for - hip-hop.

And Peta and Sean, who said they didn't want 'Afrojazz', looked relieved to learn they will be dancing disco next week.

Aly and Mark, who said they did want Afrojazz, even they didn't know what it was, got their wish. It's the first time that style has been done on the show.

That left Jacoby and Karina to do the Lindy Hop.

Jason Derules: The ladies were going gaga when Derulo delivered a sweaty performance of The Other Side

Not strictly ballroom: Jason proved he had a few moves of his own up his sleeve as he strutted his stuff

A hair-raising performance: Emeli Sande gave a wonderful rendition of her single Next To Me

The night also saw an encore performance from Zendaya and Val Chmerkovskiy, whose salsa the night before landed them a perfect score of 30 points, the first of the season, that ended with her taking a seat on a gold throne, after they were joined by Gleb Savchenko.

Meanwhile singer-songwriter Jason Derulo, who was nearly paralyzed by a neck injury, returned to the small screen to perform his new single, The Other Side.

His high-energy dance routine showed he was back to full health.

But he was outshone by Scottish singer Emeli Sande, who sang her hit Next to Me.

Grooving with granddad: The show's new mascot Peanut Rademacher danced with Len Goodman

A gravity-defying Macy's 'Stars of Dance' routine featuring Derek Hough and Jaimie Goodwin saw the pair dancing around all four walls and the floor and celling of a bedroom.

And Ingo's young son Peanut Rademacher - who has become a star of the show after watching his dad in the audience - was the subject of a segment that showed what his life was like now, that included him driving his toy car to his special parking space on the DWTS lot, and hanging out with the cast, and showing Len Goodman his moves - and jokingly plunging the studio into darkness.

Little and large: Peanut has also embarked on a blooming bromance with NFL favourite Jacoby Jones

He's even a hit with the ladies: His boyish cuteness means the female pros are always wanting high fives
