I have thoroughly enjoyed David Walliams on BGT and I hope he becomes a permanent judge on future series'.  I loved seeing him get on stage with the Showbears and his repartee with Simon is a hoot.  Long may he continue :)
Remember, Ginger Rogers did everything Fred Astaire did, but backwards and in high heels.

David Walliams' Got Talent! Comedian looks likely to outshine new 'best mate' Simon Cowell as his quick wit dominates the panel

By Holly Thomas

PUBLISHED: 00:11, 25 March 2012 | UPDATED: 07:04, 25 March 2012

They've made much of their new 'bromance', and a joint appearance on the Jonathan Ross Show confirmed that Simon Cowell and David Walliams really do get on like a house on fire.

But if the first glimpse of the pair in action behind the Britain's Got Talent judging panel is anything to go by, it looks as though Simon's position as the leader of the pack might be under threat.

Irreverent and mischievous, Walliams' contribution was such a hit that he may well take over the Syco mogul in the audience's affections.

Under threat? If the first glimpse of the pair in action behind the panel is anything to go by, it looks as though Simon Cowell's position as the leader of the pack might be usurped from David Walliams

A montage at the beginning of the show made it very clear who was setting out to be boss, and asked why he decided to do BGT David was seen replying: 'The opportunity came up and I think it’s a great year to be asked to do it because Simon’s coming back.'

Amanda Holden concurred: 'It’s amazing to have him back.'

'Simon has got a good eye for talent and I think collectively as a team we’re going to find hopefully the next superstar,' added Alesha.

Asked whether he was excited to be back Simon replied: 'Yeah you know what there’s a kind of buzz in the air at the moment.'

Comedy rules: While Simon was quick to disregard the less serious acts, David made sure he at least got a laugh from the audience during his critique

However it was quickly apparent that David wasn't above making a comic dig at the head judge, and as the group waited for his arrival he gushed: 'It’s like waiting for Santa Claus at Christmas – Because you know he’s coming you just don’t know when.'

In another reference to Simon's notorious lateness he added 'Two o'clock for lunch? He'll just be getting out of bed then.'

Throughout the show David's sense of fun dominated the mood- with Simon even changing his mind about one act, Dennis Egel, who he initially hated.

Divided opinion: One gay couple performed a ballroom dance routine to You Raise Me Up

The critique followinga  ballroom dance between a gay couple saw David's wit shine through again.

As Simon voiced his doubts over the shorter of the two men carrying the other David interrupted, protesting: 'I liked it.'

As Simon looked ready to counter, David added: 'I think it’s good to be equal.'

Seal of approval: Simon objected to the shorter man lifting his partner, but David loved it, and joked that Simon should lift him

Alesha agreed, and spurred on David continued: 'You know if we danced together Simon, say we did…'

'No,' Simon said firmly.

Undeterred, David continued: 'At the party, the Britain’s got Talent party, it may happen.'

Deeply embarrassed, Simon replied: 'No but David…No David.'

Couldn't help himself: Even Simon was unable to resist Walliams' charm

David carried on: 'I could lift you - But then you could lift me.'

Turning to the act, David added: 'Don’t listen to him, it’s great that you lift each other.'

It was clear which judge audiences were most taken with, with one Twitter user posting: 'I am a little bit in love with David Walliams...he's hilarious.'

Bromance in the air? For the moment at least, David and Simon remain best of friends- as they demonstrated on the Jonathan Ross Show tonight

Another wrote: 'David Walliams is my hero,' while one amorous viewer posted 'David walliams on my tv. Oh my god I have a huge crush on him its unreal.'

'David's playful attitude Oh I adore David Walliams flirting with Simon Cowell,' said another.

At least whatever the outcome, David doesn't appear to be taking things too seriously.

In a 'bromatic' montage, he and Simon were seen rushing down the corridor together

Asserting his authority? Simon seems aware that David's popularity may prove a threat

David mused: 'It feels like we were all meant to be together.'

Simon replied: 'I feel that way…'

Encouraged, David continued: 'Let’s all go on holiday together.'

Simon said: 'It was sort of meant to be wasn’t it?,' and David laughed 'I feel like I’ve found my family at last.'

Charm offensive: The Twitter verdict after BGT aired was overwhelmingly positive with regards to David
