Back to Weatherfield you go! Coronation Street star Andy Whyment becomes the latest Dancing On Ice evictee

He might have improved his performance since last week, but tonight Andy Whyment became the latest celebrity to be eliminated from Dancing On Ice.

The 30-year-old Coronation Street star admitted he already knew he would be leaving the show after it was revealed he was in the skate off with Chemmy Alcott.

It was the first time that Andy had found himself in the bottom two on the popular ITV1 show.

Back to the cobbles: Coronation Street star Andy Whyment became the latest celebrity to leave Dancing On Ice tonight

The actor gave it his best shot as he skated to Elvis's Suspicious Minds with his professional partner Vicky Ogden, but he told host Philip Schofield before the performance that he was 'pretty sure' it would be his last time on the ice.

Following Chemmy's skate off performance, the pair stood patiently as the judging panel made their decisions.

'You should be very proud about your performance Andy, but Chemmy I would like to see your lift again,' Katarina Witt told them.

Head-to-head: Andy found himself in the skate off alongside professional skier Chemmy Alcott

Head judge Robin Cousins agreed, saying: 'Andy you've been great to watch in this series and it was a great way for you to go, but I'm saving Chemmy too.'

Louie Spence finished by telling the actor that he had certainly given it 100%.

Andy appeared to be quite emotional as he finished by saying: 'Ive had an absolutely amazxing time. Vicky is amazing.

Elvis impersonator: Andy impressed the judges with his skate to the hit song Suspicious Minds

'I'd like to thank the producers of Corrie for letting me do this and I'd also like to say thanks to my wife. I'm looking forward to getting home and spending time with her and my kids.'

Following a tough result from the judging panel last week, Andy had decided to come back with a melodramatic performance earlier on in the night.

He certainly didn't disappoint when it came to the costume department as he donned Elvis' trademark white suit and proved he is far from 'emotionless' when it comes to his skating.

He finally received a score above 20 of 20.5 and received better comments from the judges with Robin saying: We're not supposed to compare past performances but this was so much better than last week.'

Girl power: Jennifer Ellison, Jorgie Porter and Chemmy Alcott won the team challenge by skating to a Spice Girls hit

Third judge Katarina Witt agreed: 'I thought your skating was much better today, and much more in control,' she told Andy. 'I still want you to give more of you though.'

Andy was clearly pleased with the comments and said afterwards: 'I know I'm not as good as the other guys but I'm giving it 110% and I put so much work into it.'

It was certainly a good point of the competition to have made it to as he got to take part in the team challenge.

Following last week's show, the remaining six celebrities and their professional skating partners were told that they would face the challenge where they would group together and perform a routine.

And proving that they have enough girl power combined, it was the females of the show, Jorgie Porter, Chemmy Alcott and Jennifer Ellison who came out on top and as a result doubled their scores.

High earners Jorgie and Matthew Wolfenden were told by mentors Christopher Dean and Jayne Torvill that they would be the team captains due to scoring the highest last week, but this meant more responsibility.

Teamwork: The girls success resulted in them having their individual scores of the night doubled

Hollyoaks actress Jorgie picked her first team member first in the form of Jennifer Ellison.

This was followed by Matthew choosing to have former X Factor star Chico on his team, while Jorgie then completed her all-female team by opting to have Chemmy Alcott.

Coronation Street star Andy Whyment was left to join Matthew's team meaning that it really was the guys versus the girls.

Chemmy, Jorgie and Jennifer were first to take to the rink and danced to the Spice Girls hit Spice Up Your Life and did so with much enthusiasm.

All three celebrities showed off their fantastic figures in bright orange outfits and performed a combination of individual and group moves.

But following in their sexy footsteps were the men who admitted that they were going to have fun and enjoy themselves dancing to Y.M.C.A.

Having fun: Matthew Wolfenden, Andy Whyment and Chico chose to dance to Y.M.C.A in the team challenge

The threesome wore the typical PVC outfits with sparkly tops and didn't disappoint when it came to the comedy value of their performance.

With the crowd dancing along with them, the three stars showed off their individual moves and then all came together to skate in a train and finished by spelling out the words of the hit song.

But unfortunately their joint effort wasn't enough as the majority of the judging panel opted to award Team Jorgie with double points.

'Both teams were incredible with lots of energy, but I'm a girls girl so I'm going with the women,' Katarina told them.

'You both worked it well, Louie told the teams, 'But I feel the team who had a bit more extra for me was Matthew and the boys,' he added.

All in sync: The men wore all-black outfits and managed to prove that they can perform a routine together and in time

Robin was the decision maker of the night and told the celebrities: 'The reason you all worked so well together is because you've looked after each other. But for me there was one team who worked so well together and that was Team Jorgie.'

The women screamed in delight as they realised their scores would be doubled and once again, Jorgie took the lead with a score of 52 while Chemmy followed closely behind with 51 and Jennifer sat in third place nicely with 49.

But it wasn't just a group routine that the famous faces had to endure as they also performed individually as well with their partners, meaning it was the first time that they had done two routines in one night.

First up to perform individually was Jorgie and Matt Evers.

The pair had their fair share of drama last week when Jorgie injured U.S. dancer Matt during their dance rehearsal, but it didn't stop the actress from getting her highest score to date.

This week they took to the rink dancing to Beyoncé's Crazy In Love and once again they didn't disappoint.

Crazy In Love: Jorgie and her partner Matt Evers performed to the Beyoncé hit and received praise from the judges once again

The blonde star, as usual, showed off her sexy side while skating and also modelled her trim figure in a yellow tutu outfit with a new curly hairdo.

This was a talking point of the judging panel, who of course had nothing but good things to say about her performance after giving her a combined score of 26.

'It really was fantastic and was wonderful to watch,' head judge Robin Cousins told her.

Louie Spence agreed, saying: 'I loved it. I am here for the dancing. Yes it was contained, but you still let it rip and I loved it.'

Matt told host Philip Schofield after their performance that Jorgie hadn't been cautious since the accident last week, but instead had learned how to contain her excitement on the ice.

Feeling generous: Judges Louie Spence, Robin Cousins and Katarina Witt gave very good scores to the contestants

And Jorgie clearly hadn't let the injury put her off, saying: 'I'm so happy, I just had an amazing time. I loved it!'

Next up to perform was Chico who took to the rink topless - much to the delight of the females in the audience.

Last week he found himself in the skate off despite receiving the third highest score, so this week he was determined to not be in the same situation and decided to skate to LMFAO's Sexy and I Know It.

Sexy and I know it! Chico skated without his top on to the LMFAO hit

But despite the routine being a fun one, Chico found himself struggling with the difficult lifts in rehearsals and dropped his partner Jodeyne Higgins a few times.

However, when it came to doing it for real he didn't disappoint and showed exactly why he's still in the competition.

Skating in just a pair of zebra print leggings and flexing his muscles from time-to-time, the singing star was awarded a score of 25 which was his highest to date.

But Louie was quick to tell Chico that he wouldn't get extra points for taking his clothes off.

'Philip is the only guy on this show I fancy!' he declared.

Having a ball! The singer impressed the ladies by flexing his muscles as he skated

But in all seriousness, he told him: 'Once again a wonderful performance, strong and full of energy. There was great power in it.'

Katarina added by saying: 'I always thought less is more, but I guess with you more is better! It was great performance.'

Chemmy was up next and unfortunately for her she was faced with a tricky lift that haunted her a few weeks ago.

During rehearsals, she found herself clashing with her partner Sean Rice as she criticised him for not holding her properly.

As she took to the ice in a short blue dress, the professional skier was no doubt very aware of the judges watching her and awaiting the lift.

Not feeling blue: Chemmy and her partner Sean Rice proved that they like a challenge as they included another tricky lift into their routine

The blonde star seemed a little cautious on the ice but got through the lift without tumbling and looked very pleased with herself as the routine came to an end.

And she looked even happier when she received her score of 25.5 and excitedly told Sean that he 'is amazing.'

He responded by saying the he and Chemmy had become 'friends for life.'

The judging panel had nothing but compliments for the star with Robin starting with: 'Tonight you were absolutely brilliant. Technically the strongest skating we have seen so far this series.'

Louie agreed telling her: 'By far your best performance Chemmy so keep going like this.'

Following Chemmy's much-loved performance was the last female of the night, Jennifer.

Wearing matching black outfits, the former Emmerdale star and her partner Daniel Whiston proved that they could perfect new lifts and did so with much emotion.

The blonde star looked rather chuffed when she received a score of 24.5 and even began to cry.

Feeling emotional: Jennifer showed that her confidence has grown and grown as she took to the ice

She received fantastic comments from the panel, with Louie telling her: 'That is how you do a lyrical dance routine on the ice. It was fresh, it was exciting and the emotion really captured me.'

Robin added to this by saying: 'It was beautiful to watch,' while Katarina said: 'I'm glad you didn't stay a one hit wonder from last week.'

Last but not least to show off their skills was Matthew who danced to Olly Murs hit Dance With Me Tonight.

Despite being one of the favourites on the show, the actor wasn't feeling confident about a new lift he was challenged with.

High earner: Once again Matthew received nothing but praise following his performance on the ice

But once again he managed to pull it off and performed the lift without dropping his partner Nina Ulanova.

And it seems the hard work was worth it as the pair received the highest score of the series so far of 28.5.

The judges were clearly impressed and Robin began by the comments by telling Matthew: 'We are rarely seeing any repetition from you and you're just so comfortable to watch. It's brilliant.'

Katarina agreed by saying: 'For me its acting, its entertaining, you are skating.'
