'They said I was too fat to dance': Dancing On Ice star Jorgie Porter told by ballet teachers as a teenager to lose weight

Her delicate moves in the rink have been described as 'absolutely exquisite' by judges.

So no one would have guessed that Dancing On Ice star Jorgie Porter had ever had a problem with her weight.

But the 24-year-old was told as a teenager that she was too big to do ballet, leaving her in floods of tears.

As delicate as they come: No one would have guessed that Jorgie Porter had a problem with her weight, but the Hollyoaks star was told by ballet teaches she was too big to dance

At just 5ft, 2ins, the Hollyoaks actress is one of the smallest contestants on the show, and she has posed for lads magazine, wowing fans with her amazing figure.

Slimline: The actress is known for her tiny figure

'I joined ballet school at 16, and for two years all the teachers told me I had to lose weight or I'd never be a dancer, or get a job,' she told The People.

'They used to ask me why I was big - did I drink a litre of cider every night?

'Of course I didn't. it was puppy fat and the fact I had muscles - because I ran around Chester wall every morning before ballet class.

'I had a belly but my legs made me look like a barrel with sticks attached, with these big shoulders. It was a bizarre shape.

'I would run into the toilets crying. My best friend Sophia was my rock. She would run in after me and tell me not to worry about it.

'As soon as I left the classes the weight just fell off me. I don't fret about eating now and I feel much happier.'

Jorgie topped the leader board last weekend with her dance partner Matt Evers, 35, with a score of 18.5. The pair are due to dance again tonight.

Her mother and boyfriend James Atherton, who plays the boyfriend of her character Theresa McQueen on the show, watched proudly from the audience.

'We've been together for six months and it's all good. He is coming to watch on Sunday and he says he's got a surprise for me. I don't know what. It'll probably be a big banner.

'We are spending a lot of time apart but when we see each other we really appreciate it.'

Doing well: Jorgie topped the leader board last weekend with her dance partner Matt Evers, 35, with a score of 18.5

Jorgie said she has only met her father once, when she was seven, and grew up with her mother and grandmother, describing their household like 'the family from Little Women'.

'I don't speak to my dad. I haven't missed him. I don't feel like I need a father figure really. On Father's Day some of the girls who are talking about it suddenly remember and apologise. I just say "Guys it's okay. I don't care". I don't know any better so it's cool.'

The star said she was nervous about tonight's performance because there was 'a long list of difficult techniques,' but she said Matt was very patient with her.
