Alesha Dixon quits Strictly Come Dancing
Last updated at 3:00 PM on 2nd January 2012 Alesha Dixon has quit the judging panel of Strictly Come Dancing. The pop star, who controversially replaced choreographer Arlene Phillips in 2009, is leaving after three series on the BBC show. A BBC spokesperson said: 'We wish her all the best.
I'm off! Alesha Dixon has quit BBC talent show Strictly Come Dancing after three series 'She has done three very successful series with us and we look forward to announcing our new line-up in due course.' Dixon, 33, famously won the fifth series of Strictly in 2007 with her professional partner Matthew Cutler. It was somewhat of a career resurgence for the Herts-native, who had been dropped from her record company and split from ex-husband Harvey after discovering his affair with singer Javine Hylton. During her time on Strictly, Dixon was rumoured to be the highest paid judge on the panel, earning more than Craig Revel-Horwood, Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli.
Who will replace her? Who will sit with Craig Revel Horwood, Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli? Despite being the least experienced in terms of dancing, her celebrity status and interest from rival talent shows landed her a reported £100,000 salary. In a recent interview, Dixon admitted she hoped to build her TV career and dreamed of being the 'British Oprah'. She told the Mail On Sunday's You magazine: 'I haven't got an exact time scale for it. I can't say I want to do it in five years, or ten, but that's the ultimate goal. 'I
would love to have my own chat show. I'd love to be able to address
serious issues, and keep a foot in the entertainment world. I just want
to do it all, and I think you can. Oprah has.'
Triumph: Dixon and Matthew Cutler in the final of Strictly Come Dancing in 2007

I wonder if they gave her the chance to walk before she was pushed?? can't imagine why she would leave as she has no other career to fall into as her singing career has fell by the way.

I've heard that she's off to" Britain's Got talent" or some other equally 'high brow' programme. This news has really made my Christmas. I was so disillusioned with the last series that I didn't even bother to watch the Christmas special! Can't wait to hear who they're bringing in to replace her, just really hope it's someone who really knows what they're talking about!

I fear the BBc annd their decisions if it is Karen Hardy then SCD will be dead to me she may know what she is talking about but she is awful wooden and plain scary front of camera
I would not call SCD 'high brow' either just cos it is on BBC does not make it bettter Alesha will be well suited to BGT and last year got DOUBLE the audience of SCD and it is much better for her career than SCD If it was me would get rid of Bruno and Len too whiile I was at it but that will never happen if ther talentless berk or wooden Hardy to end up on panel I will switch off for good |

Glad she's gone
she's just been too embarrassing on the last two Alan Carr shows I've seen her on, was just talking about it with my friend yesterday, reckon she shot herself in the foot, and jumped before she was pushed!
She was pissed on the first show was on, and blabbing too much about the SCD show imo.
(not giving a supposedly impartial view of the star's and contestants) as they say Loose Lips sink Ships!!
Her, Bruno, and Gok kwan too crude on Alan Carr's New year's eve show, it went too far imo.
edit, it was my fault was expecting a 'family' new years eve show (the 2nd Alan Carr show she was on) my kids were watching it too! (luckily they are 14, and 11) - they were watching it for Olly Murs, and JLS.

Jumping before she was pushed no doubt. Now if only they would get rid of Len, Bruno, Anton and the Jordons we would have a show wouldn't we? If this is just the start, then it looks promising for the next series.Dumping Jared and bringing in Pasha was sheer genius so there is hope

I beg to differ
I was no fan of Alesha judging SCD although she still remains the best winner of the show but the move to BGT is a wise career move and not someone jumping ship before she was pushed. The BGT announcment has been scheduled since December for the 2nd Jan. I think the BBC touched lucky with Pasha and it was not the result of wise employment by the BBC but just the fact that they touched lucky have no faith that they will replace alesha with someone who is more dance experienced Strong rumours for Nicole Scherzinger (she won DWTS) and Karen Hardy and if it was between these two poor choices I would want6 Nicole - Karen does have the experience but is dreadful in front of camera IMO |

The thing with Karen Hardy is that no doubt she is an expert, but on TV comes across as a manic depressive stuck in manic mode... she wears hubby and me out just listening to her.

Thank god she's got the dignity to leave, unlike Brucie!
Oh and they should sack Len and Bruno while they're at it, DWTS can have them for all I care |

Yep Karen is a bit manic/crazy, or comes across, but I would of preferred her to Aleshia, as has the background, Ian Waite i would enjoy too, but it will have to be a female i think, can't see 4 males on the panel at all, and a strong female character too.
(don't think Arlene would ever be invited back)
Can't stand Nicole Sherzinger's whiney little sugary girly voice, but that's just my personal taste.
Bruno is on the edge of stepping over the line too imo, (of family viewing)
My fav is still Craig.
They'll probably get someone with no dancing experience whatsoever, so it could even be Sharon Osborne!!!! LOL

Good luck to Alesha in her new role - which I won't be watching. BGT's auditions seem to consist of deluded twerps who consider belching the National Anthem to be a "talent" from the snippets I've been compelled by the other half to watch
As for a replacement... if it's Karen or Tony, God help us all. One is extremely knowledgable to be sure, but makes me cringe every time she opens her mouth with her way of expressing that knowledge (to the point I mute the sound on ITT when she's on) and the other... mind you, unless he's willing to change his name to Antonia and wear a better frock then Tess, I can't see him getting the job. An all-male panel is an invitation to abuse, isn't it?
