Fired? I’ve been fired at ... then kidnapped

APPRENTICE candidate Melody Hossaini has revealed how she was kidnapped and held at gunpoint in war-torn Iran.

Melody, 26, grew up there but fled with her family after her neighbour's house was bombed.

She told of her childhood terror in an audition video for the latest series of The Apprentice, which starts on BBC1 on Tuesday.

Melody is one of 16 wannabes desperate to avoid being fired so they can earn a £250,000 investment from the tycoon.

She said: "What makes me different from other candidates is that I come from a different upbringing. I've come from a different way of thinking. I was born amid war in Iran.

"Our neighbours were bombed and we fled. I've been held at gunpoint in my own home. I've been kidnapped."

Melody speaks five languages and lived in four countries before being brought to the UK when she was 13. She now lives in the Midlands and has founded a global youth consultancy business.

She claims to have worked alongside ex-US vice-president Al Gore, anti-apartheid campaigner Desmond Tutu and Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama.

She said: "I want to be more than average - average was never good enough for me."

Another candidate, Gavin Winstanley, 27, from Liverpool, bragged in his clip: "Lord Sugar wouldn't have to teach me anything because I already know it all."
