Alesha Dixon 'eyed by X Factor bosses' as Cheryl Cole replacement

Alesha Dixon could be involved in a talent show transfer from Strictly Come Dancing to The X Factor, as ITV bosses look to replace Cheryl Cole.

The Girls Aloud singer's role on the new US version of Simon Cowell's star search has left producers of the UK show with a major problem.

According to the News of the World, they are considering solving it by poaching Alesha from the BBC.

The 32-year-old has a similar background to Cheryl, having been in girl group Mis-Teeq and won a major TV contest, and has also proved she can fill big shoes by replacing Arlene Phillips on the Strictly panel.

X Factor producers are said to have already held informal talks with Alesha, although no final decision has been made.

An insider said: 'Cheryl leaves a massive void on the panel and there's a serious hunt going on right now.

'The obvious advantage of Alesha is that she's young, sexy and confident and already has experience on a judging panel.'

X Factor bosses are believed to be torn between choosing an established TV personality and selecting a new judge with no track record and developing them into a small screen star.

That could be good news for Frankie Sandford of The Saturdays or Tulisa of N-Dubz, who are also under consideration for a spot on the judging panel.

Dannii Minogue and Louis Walsh are both expected to return for the new series of The X Factor, although no contracts have been signed, while Take That star Gary Barlow has emerged as the frontrunner to replace Simon.
