DERMOT O'Leary has bagged a £250,000 deal to front a major new ITV programme about MARRIAGE disputes.

The X Factor star will host a UK version of American comic Jerry Seinfeld's The Marriage Ref.

The cult show, which airs on NBC in the US, sees a panel of celebs try to sort out real-life married couple's problems.

He landed the job after ITV bosses made a pilot with comic Jo Brand - but decided they wanted him instead.

ITV will start filming the show next month and screen seven episodes later this year.

The celebrity panel is still being worked out, but comic Jack Dee is expected to take part.

The show is a coup for Dermot who is keen to broaden his experience to help him crack the US.

He told TV Biz: "It's a great show and the kind of thing I want to present because it's not your usual show. It's something I'd watch. I'd never do a gameshow. ITV have big plans for it, so fingers crossed."

The 37-year-old X Factor host said he had got over missing out on the X Factor USA presenting job.

He held talks with producers but was overlooked after show boss Simon Cowell decided he wanted Americans to host it.

Dermot said: "I'm at peace with the decision now.

"I still really want to work in America, but not to the detriment of anything I'm doing over here."

He will get his first break there tomorrow as he fronts coverage of the Royal wedding for E! Entertainment.
