A message from Torvill & Dean

Welcome to Dancing on Ice 2011, we’re really excited about this series as there are
many changes ahead that we hope will give a new look and feel to the show for
viewers.

This will be our 6th series on ITV1 and this year we’re moving to a brand
new home at the legendary Shepperton Studios. They’ve been so welcoming to
us and viewers will see a wonderful purpose built studio set and ice rink in the
new year. Not only will viewers see a new studio and brand new set but we’re
also going to be transmitting in HD for the first time – viewers can now see those
terrifying head bangers in high definition and of course those colourful costumes
up close! Did you know that over 4.3 million crystals have been added to costumes
since we began?!

This series we’re also welcoming many new pro skaters on the TV show. They’ve
achieved such amazing recognition within the industry over the years and we’re
ver y honoured to welcome them to our Dancing on Ice family. You can read all
about them in the press pack and these new skaters will join established favourites
Dan Whiston, Frankie Poultney, Matt Evers, Brianne Delcourt and Maria Filippov
to give a new look to the pro skater line up in 2011.

This year we have our biggest line up ever with 16 skaters all eager to prove
themselves every Sunday night, as always some of the skaters have had a few
falls on the ice but we’ve got a real determined bunch this year and we’ve seen
some fantastic progress during training.

There will be a number of changes to the show format this year, the first that
viewers will see is at the very beginning, 16 celebrities have been training since
October, but only 12 will be in the competition - Two will leave in week one and two
will leave in week two, it will all be left to the public vote.

We hope you’re looking forward to the new series as much as we are, we think we
have a great line up of skaters for 2011, who we hope will entertain you and bring a
smile to your face every Sunday evening during the cold Winter months!
Let the new series of Dancing on Ice commence and see you on ITV1, Sunday the
9th January!
