Simon Cowell insists he is NOT quitting X Factor... but reveals there will be no show next year

Simon Cowell has insisted he is not quitting the British X Factor - after revealing he is on the brink of signing a fresh multi-million pound deal with ITV.

The multi-millionaire, 50, had prompted fears he was set to leave the UK version of the hit talent show to concentrate on the new American series of the X Factor.

However, the outspoken star denied this today, as he revealed the X Factor will likely be off screen for a year and launch on air in January 2012. As well as this, Britain’s Got Talent will be moved to next autumn – and will have a longer run.

Revelations: Simon Cowell leaving Radio 2 in London yesterday; the X Factor judge insists he is staying as a judge on the British show

Cowell said: ‘We have a contract to put X Factor on in America next year, which we are committed to.

‘And what we now have to look at is how much time we have got to make both shows, because I’ve got less time, so we are thinking about moving X Factor into a different time of the year and Britain’s Got Talent to a different time.

‘I’ve been reassured by ITV that we have got all the money we need to make them better, if I think they are going to be better.

Overworked: Cowell said he needed vitamin injections to keep on top of his workload

‘If I think they’re going to be better, we’re going to carry on making them and we’re very close to announcing a long term deal with ITV for both shows.’

Cowell told Radio 2 DJ Steve Wright the X Factor could run next year ‘if a couple of things can be moved’. But he said he preferred a plan to screen it in January 2012, adding: ‘I think putting it in a different time slot might be good.’

The notorious workaholic stressed that he had no plans to move full time to the States, insisting ‘100 per cent no.’

He said: ‘I’ve always said I could have taken a full time job in America, but I didn’t want it, I want to make the shows here.

‘All I’m trying to do is make sure we make better shows than before and if we can’t make them better than there’s no point in doing it.

‘But our feeling is we can, we will, watch this space.’

Cowell - whose future on Britain's Got Talent is in doubt - said he barely took time off to relax, but coped by having vitamin injections.

He said: ‘I have a doctor who comes over once a week, they give you these injections - - but they’re like six inches long and it takes about 30 minutes and it is agony!

‘Vitamin B, magnesium, pure vitamin C, it does help - it lasts for two days and then you just collapse and then you have another one!’

Asked about Piers Morgan’s deal to take over from Larry King on his CNN chat show, Cowell laughed: ‘Lucky, lucky, lucky.’

Morgan will have to quit his judging role on Britain’s Got Talent and Cowell said he had helped broker the US deal as Morgan also stars on America’s Got Talent. His company Syco will now produce his ITV chat show series.

He said: ‘He had to work with us on all of this, I was happy – it sounds weird – for Piers.

‘We’re now going into a joint venture with him to produce all his talk shows.’

Cowell also hit out at singer Lou Reed for banning Susan Boyle from performing his most famous hit Perfect Day on America’s Got Talent this week.

He said Miss Boyle had only been told she was not allowed to perform the song two hours before she was due to go on air, adding: ‘He’s now put out  a statement saying he didn’t know anything about it – yeah right.

‘I thought this is so petty, so pathetic, loads of people have covered this song, millions, it’s a fantastic version.’

Cowell said that Reed had now said Miss Boyle could use the song on next week’s show.

Oh it's a hard life!!

Those weeks spent at his house in Barbados, with all those housemaids, and servants must help tho!!! and on his yacht too.
So hard to flying between his homes also!!
Keep up all those vitamin injections from your top Harley doctor Simon, othewise we'll all be feeling sorry for you!! (NOT)
There's a lot of people out there working real jobs of 60, and 70 hours per week for a pittance (my late father one of them) who never get any holidays, breaks, or vitamin injections.
Loose Lips, Sink Ships !!   or as they say in Jamaice, 'Mouth open, Story fly out!'
