Sixtysomethings Cagney and Lacey reunite to celebrate historic
impact on U.S. TV
Thirty years on, and they still make
the perfect partnership.
Cagney and Lacey - also known as
Sharon Gless and Tyne Daly - were
reunited this week at an awards ceremony
in Los Angeles.
The actresses, who played the crime-fighting duo for six seasons in the early Eighties, seemed to have lost none of their chemistry as they posed happily side by side on the red carpet.

also matched each
other for glamour, with Miss
Daly, 64, sporting a striking
grey bob, and Miss Gless, who
is 67 next week, keeping her
cool blonde good looks.
Fans of the Emmy award-winning show will remember the contrast and friendship between detective Christine Cagney, who was wedded to her career, and Mary Beth Lacey, who struggled to juggle a family life with the demands of police work.

The characters were
reunited in the Nineties for several
TV specials - and earlier this
year Miss Daly made a guest
appearance on Miss Gless’s
new show, Burn Notice.
Miss Daly, whose last regular part was in Judging Amy from 1999 to 2005, said of the cameo: ‘It was wonderful. It was just like old times.
Support acts: Jessica Simpson and Cat
Deeley were among the guests at the Gracie Awards Gala for women in
‘I mean, they were different characters, but we know each other now and Sharon’s mother had a great expression: “Sweat makes a great cement”.
‘She and I sweated together for six years and we just know each other’s timing.’
Brit star Cat Deeley and singer Jessica Simpson also attended the black tie Gracie Awards Gala, which celebrates programming made for and about women
