Cat Deeley denies she's in line for US X Factor job as Sinitta lets slip Mariah Carey IS in the running

Cat Deeley paid tribute to her designer friend Matthew Williamson in one of his stunning creations as the designer was named BritWeek designer of the year at a Hollywood event last night.

But she answered the question on everyone's lips as she denied reports that she is set to land a coveted role on the US version of Simon Cowell's hit show The X Factor.

Instead, one of Cowell's oldest friend's and X Factor mentor Sinitta has let slip that US singing superstar Mariah Carey is the running for the job.

While So You Think You Can Dance host denied there was any truth to newspaper reports that she and current UK X Factor host Dermot O'Leary were being lined-up to front the prime-time show when Simon Cowell brings it to America.

'I don't know a thing about it, not a thing,' the presenter insisted at the BritWeek party in Hollywood, where her close friend Matthew Williamson was being named Designer Of The Year.

Sinitta revealed in an interview that Simon is considering some big names, including

She said: 'It's amazing that so many people want to do... it's huge'

Before letting slip: 'Everybody is up for it, Mariah... ok I'm not saying anymore!'

However, Cat didn't completely rule a move to the new show out.

She said: 'You never know, providing I'm not chatting to someone else.'

The glamorous presenter who looked stunning in a Matthew Williamson digital print dress said she was a big fan of former T4 presenter O' Leary.

'I love Mr O'Leary, I've been a big, big fan of Mr O'Leary's since I worked with him - which is going to really give my age away - but probably about 10 years ago,' she said.

'I think it was the Smash Hits Poll Winners Party or something like that, and we had a blast, so I've always been a fan of Mr O'Leary.'

Rumours abounded after Dermot, 36, who launched his career on Channel 4's teen strand T4 and also presents his own Radio 2 show, moved out to Los Angeles in February in an attempt to raise his profile.

His TV producer girlfriend Dee Kopang is already based there.

Cat, 31, who started out at MTV before appearing alongside Ant and Dec on kids' series SM:TV Live, has seen her career go from strength to strength since moving to LA in 2006.

She is dating Anjelica Huston's nephew Jack Huston.

Also in attendance at the BritWeek event were newlyweds Lord Frederick Windsor and Lady Sophia Windsor, and actress Jacqueline Bisset.

BritWeek is a year long initiative which celebrates British connections to California.
