Shake and vacuous: Jedward to revive 30-year-old cult TV ad

Jedward are cleaning up their act by doing a remake of the Shake n' Vac ad. And they seem perfect for the part famous for its seriously naff dance and song.

The Grimes twins were in London promoting the carpet cleaner yesterday and were clearly delighted to be revamping the 30-year-old commercial that became a cult hit.

'It's a lot of fun and that's what we're all about,' said John, 18.

Cleaning up: John and Edward 'Shake n' Vac' the pavement

Edward, clearly getting into the seriousness of the challenge, added: 'When we were younger we had five dogs and we would let them in the house and it would smell bad and then we would use Shake n' Vac and it would make the carpet smell nice.'

Using the Dublin pair for the ad may not be such a daft idea. Although they were ditched by their record label Sony after their debut single Under Pressure croaked, their tuneless singing and out-of-synch dancing on X Factor made them a cult hit too.

Where's the hair? A rare shot of pair as they returned to the The Mayfair Hotel in London without a touch of gel in sight

Their internet ad, which goes online from May 20, includes original star Jenny Logan, who played the signing housewife cleaning with her vacuum cleaner.

She is also leading a nationwide search to find the best new Shake n' Vac dance.

She said: 'Being a part of the Glade Shake n' Vac ad was such a fun experience. People still come up to me today.

'I am thrilled to be bringing the dance back to the nation and excited to partner Jedward.'

They are crap tho, arent' they?? (Jedward i mean)
Don't watch the ads myself , always skip them
I did slow my FF down the other day to see the 'coffee' ad
IMO not as good as the 70/80's ad.   Don't think the girl is very voluptuos/suggestive at all
the ones earlier were much more imaginative, and got the watchers engaged.
don't see the point of the John Lewis one either, boring.................zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Is Peter Kay still doing the John Smith ads, i only ever saw them on the Internet, but they were brilliant.  I get some brilliant world wide ads sent to me, must say a lot of them are Beer ads (mostly budweiser)  the Ikea ones have been good too.
Loose Lips, Sink Ships !!   or as they say in Jamaice, 'Mouth open, Story fly out!'
