First look: Cheryl Cole goes for a racy Latin routine with dancer Derek Hough in the new music video for her single Parachute

She's gearing up to head over to Los Angeles to make a real go of her solo career, and her new video will cement her break away from Girls Aloud.

Cheryl Cole looks every bit the solo star in the promo for her latest single Parachute.

The singer, 26, is put through her paces by Dancing With The Stars U.S. star Derek Hough, 24, as they perform a high-energy dance routine.

Heat: The Latin routine involves a lot of smouldering, close up positions

Sporting a variety of vampish looks, including a glamorous 20s style dress with puffed up shoulders, a tie and lace gloves, Cheryl works her way through the carefully choreographed scenes with aplomb.

She also wears a revealing white dress, slashed to the waist, as she writhes around on a bed.

In the closing scenes she is surrounded by a group of ten men, dancing her way around each of them in a sassy navy blue dress covered with studs, and studded, fingerless gloves.

Parachute is the third single to be released from Cole's debut solo LP 3 Words.

Co-written by Ingrid Michaelson and Michael Altman and produced by Reggie 'Syience' Perry and will.i.am, it is due to hit the shelves in March.

The song has already made an appearance in the UK singles charts, charting at number 65 on downloads after the singer performed it on the ITV1 special, Cheryl Cole's Night In last December.

Cole's first solo single, Fight For This Love, debuted at number one in October last year, while her follow-up 3 Words peaked at number four in December.

Her album entered the charts at number one and has since sold more than 600,000 copies.

She first performed the Parachute on stage for her Night In show on ITV1 in December last year, where she was joined on stage by Hough for a Latin style dance routine.

Backed by a troupe of Latin dancers in black and red, Cheryl showed off her petite figure in a hot pink tiered skirt and asymmetrical sequinned body as she worked the dancefloor.

With her dark hair swept back into a tight bun and cherry lipstick, Cheryl looked every inch the Spanish Senorita as she performed the sexy sequence.

Derek Hough is a former world champion in Latin dance and would no doubt have had a strong influence over the racy choreography for both the video and their previous stage performance.

Last week it was announced that Cheryl will support the Black Eyed Peas on their huge arena tour which kicks off this May.

 The singer will join the chart-topping group as they hit London, Manchester and Birmingham for the concerts.

Parachute is set to be released on March 15.
