APPRENTICE hopeful Majid Nagra has already been fired from one job, we can reveal.

He was axed from his last post for skiving off work to visit Madame Tussauds wax museum.

Bearded Majid, 28, left his bosses at their wits’ end by trying to juggle two businesses at the same time.

The Coventry-based wannabe was running a car hire firm and a restaurant last year — but he was supposed to be working for phone firm Systemcare.

His extra-curricular work was rumbled after execs tried to get hold of him one afternoon when he was supposed to be on a job in Birmingham. He had to confess he was 120 miles away at Madame Tussauds in London.

Happy day ... Sir Alan

A former colleague said: “Maj had his finger in so many pies when he was at Systemcare. He was the classic wheeler-dealer. It was quite funny in a way.

“We all knew he was doing the car business and then we found out he was setting up a restaurant as well.”

The source added Majid was a “dubious” figure at Systemcare.

They said: “You never quite knew what you were getting with Maj. He was pretty charmless and he wasn’t great at hitting his targets.

“In the end he had to go last August, which seemed to suit him as he got through to the Apprentice anyway. He just shrugged his shoulders — he’s that kind of guy.”

Systemcare workers are now running a sweepstake on how long Majid will last on the show.

One added: “We’re all wondering if he can pull the wool over Sir Alan’s eyes. We doubt it.”

Viewers watched last night as Majid and the boys’ team beat the girls at the show’s first task — cleaning cars.

They may have a regular job on his motor after Sir Alan’s £360,000 Rolls-Royce Phantom — number plate AMS1 — was dented and streaked with green paint, causing £10,000 of damage.

The tycoon’s chauffeur escaped his boss’s withering: “You’re fired!” after Sir Alan, 62, took the news in his stride.

He said: “My driver claims he drove into a pallet.”

Asked his reaction, Sir Alan said: “I just said, ‘Oh dear’ What can you do? A car’s only a lump of metal, isn’t it?”

Yesterday normally gruff Sir Alan said he wants to introduce a National Happy Day during the recession — but he said Brits must stop whining.

He said: “We should all stop moaning. There’s no point, is there? Maybe we should make Thursday a National Happy Day.”
