Hi, I'm not sure if this is the best place to post this, but I've got a friend who wants to join here, but whenever they try to register they get the following message:

Error
Only members with sufficient permission can access this page.

A security error has occurred with authentication.

Please ensure that all cookies are enabled on your web browser, you are not using a saved or cached copy of the page, and your Firewall/Proxy settings are not hiding or masking your IP address.

They think they've checked what it suggests.  Can you think what else it might be?  Thanks.

fluff, I had a similar problem trying to log in here ages ago. Ask your friend if it's happening on other websites that require a password, it turned out to be my anti-virus(!) mucking around with my cookies. Don't ask me how, it took ages to figure it out but I've gotten rid of it and had no problems since.

It was CA Security Suite or whatever it's called, with anti-virus, anti-spam, firewall etc. If in doubt, save everything, reinstall Windows and start again.

I had the sme message yesterday when trying to register. Today I tried a different user name and different password and it worked.

Being a ginger myself, I suppose I should take offence at that comment, but I'm afraid it made me laugh!!!
 
I'm a sort of Newbie in that I've only posted a couple of times although joined ages ago.  I'm a refugee from the Pink Palace which has been overrun with BBC SCD forumites since they closed their message board.
